Navigating through Ramon Salazar's castle in Chapter 8 of the Resident Evil 4 remake presents players with several challenging obstacles. Among these environmental challenges, the Lithographic Stone puzzle in the Bindery room stands out as a crucial progression point. Solving this puzzle grants passage to the next area, but doing so requires locating missing tablets and understanding how their shapes and colors align.
Where to Find All Lithographic Stones
Before you can attempt the puzzle on the sealed wall, you must locate three missing tablets scattered around the Bindery. Lithographic Stone A is already placed within the puzzle mechanism, giving you an immediate starting anchor. You can find Lithographic Stone B on a nearby bookshelf directly next to the locked doorway.
The remaining tablets are placed across other areas of the room for you to collect. Lithographic Stone C sits on a stack of documents resting on a table along the south wall. Meanwhile, Lithographic Stone D is stored in a glass cabinet in the southwestern corner. You will need to break the glass panel with your knife to pick it up.
Understanding the Puzzle Requirements
Once all four tablets are in your inventory, return to the Wall with Four Slots to begin assembling the solution. The puzzle requires matching each stone's symbol, color, and surrounding border shape to the faded diagrams surrounding the slots. It is important to note that every stone is double-sided and can be flipped to reveal alternate icons.
Some markings on the wall are partially worn away, requiring players to deduce the correct orientation through process of elimination. Pay close attention to both the outer borders, which are either square or hexagonal, and the symbol colors. Aligning these attributes correctly ensures the doorway mechanism unlocks smoothly.
Step-by-Step Lithographic Stone Solution
To arrange the tablets accurately, insert each stone into its corresponding slot based on the complete set of visual cues. Place the red shield symbol with a square border into the top position. For the right slot, insert the blue sword symbol that features a square border.
Next, orient the bottom slot with the blue chest armor symbol surrounded by a hexagon border. Finally, place the red helmet symbol with a hexagon border into the left slot. If an icon does not match initially, press the button prompt to flip the stone to its reverse side.
Continuing Your Progress Through the Castle
After correctly positioning all four Lithographic Stones, the sealed door will slide open automatically. This opens up the adjacent hallway leading toward the castle battlements and the merchant. Mastering this puzzle allows players to maintain momentum without spending unnecessary time guessing combinations.
