Unlocking the full potential of your tools in Disney Dreamlight Valley requires completing key character friendship storylines. Merlin's final quest, known as The Final Trial, rewards players with the ultimate Royal Watering Can upgrade to clear away large mushroom obstacles. A crucial component needed for this enchantment is the elusive Ice Heart item.
Starting The Final Trial Quest
To initiate this quest, players must max out their friendship level with Merlin to level 10. Once reached, speak with Merlin to receive instructions and the initial assignment. He will ask you to prepare Purified Night Shards and consult WALL-E to crush them into powder.
After returning to Merlin with the crushed shards, he provides an enchantment book containing the recipe. This recipe specifies three key ingredients: Falling Water, Mushrooms, and an Ice Heart. Gathering these items is essential before you can move on to crafting the final enchantment.
Obtaining the Ice Heart Seed
Unlike standard materials gathered around the valley, the Ice Heart cannot be found growing naturally. Instead, Merlin hands you an Ice Tear Seed along with the magic recipe book. This unique seed is the direct key to growing the Ice Heart required for the recipe.
Equip your Shovel and dig a planting hole anywhere in the valley. Plant the Ice Tear Seed into the soil and water it immediately using your Royal Watering Can. Within just a few seconds, an icy blue plant will sprout and mature fully.
Harvesting and Crafting the Upgrade
Harvest the fully grown blue plant to acquire the Ice Heart into your inventory. Combine the Ice Heart with Falling Water and the required Mushrooms at any crafting station. Under the Potion and Enchantment tab, craft the Royal Watering Can Upgrading Ointment.
Bring the finished ointment back to Merlin to upgrade your Royal Watering Can permanently. Test your newly upgraded tool on the giant mushroom patches blocking pathways in the Glade of Trust. Destroying these obstacles finishes the mission, opening up new areas and rewarding you with Merlin's Marvelous Wizard Hat.
